Record Details

NHER Number:22927
Type of record:Monument
Name:Late Bronze Age, Roman and medieval site, multi-period objects

Summary

Although a number of fragments of Bronze Age artefacts have been recovered, the list of finds from this area is dominated by objects from the Roman period. This includes tegula and box tile fragments, as well as pottery sherds and coins. In addition an evaluation and excavation in 2000 revealed Roman ditches and an oven or hearth, as well as a medieval pit. As a result it has been suggested that a Roman site of high status existed in or near to this area.
