Name:Late Saxon pottery from the garden of White Rose Cottage, White Hart Street

Summary

A complete rim piece of a Late Saxon cooking pot and part of a rouletted rim from a Late pot was found in foundations dug in the garden of White Rose Cottage. The rims were sooty on the outer edges showing they had been used in a fire.

Full description

February 1982. Found inverted 46cm (18 inches) deep embedded in natural Breck sand while digging foundation.
Complete rim only of St Neots type ware cooking pot about 33cm (13 inches) diameter - sooting on outside. Also a rouletted rim of St Neots type ware bowl, inside very abraded, sooting on outside.
