June 1953. Listed, Grade II*.
Listing Description excerpt:
"Country house, now old people's home. 1783-1785. Supposedly alterations and additions to an existing house inherited from his wife by Thomas Pitt, 1st Baron Camelford (1737-1793) himself an architectural amateur, but no earlier work surviving."

Burnham Westgate Hall. 1783. By de Carle after a design by Soane. Yellow brick, five bays, three storeys, three bay pediment. Wings of two bays, one storey. Staircase in apse at rear.

Tom Martin's notes (S3) produced during the 18th-century have drawings of carvings dated 1565 from "Mrs Harris's house at Burnham Westgate'" from the "east and west porches".
Nothing like this was seen in area, could this be from an earlier hall on this site?

A stable block to the east of the hall was listed Grade II in March 1985. This is now recorded separately as NHER 65233.
