Summary

The courses of several medieval and post medieval roads are visible as earthworks within Docking Park, NHER 20502, and are also visible on aerial photographs. Some of the roads are shown on 18th century estate maps, and they were closed to the public in the 19th century.

Full description

Avenues of trees in park mark the courses of pre-park roads.
See (S1) and the record map for details.
For this reason the park is included within the village conservation area.

Some of the roads also survive as slight depressions.
According to informant, during the 1976 drought a cobbled surface was exposed near London pond.
These roads were officially closed in 1838 according to (S2).
