Summary

A Neolithic or Bronze Age macehead, Roman pottery, coins, brooches and other metalwork, an Early Saxon brooch, and medieval and post medieval pottery and metalwork, found by metal detecting and on the surface. Building material of unknown date has been found in a pit at this site.

1978.
Building material and pit in section noted.

1983 to 1984.
Roman and medieval sherds found.

1985 to 1986. Metal detecting.
Roman coins, a spoon and knife handle, brooches and pottery.
Early Saxon cruciform brooch.
Late Saxon bossed copper alloy cast.
Medieval and post medieval metalwork.

1989. Found with metal detecting.
Roman coin and copper alloy minature votive axe.
Medieval and post medieval metalwork.

1990. Stray Find.
Quartzite pebble macehead with hammer marks on one end. Now held by the NCM (NWHCM : 1993.18 : A). These simple perforated pebble maceheads are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.
