Full description

Pre 1976.
Noted on Cambridge University Committee for Aerial Photography list of air photographs.
'Earthworks'. Later confirmed from copy sent to NAU; old enclosures or field underlying and askew to present field system.
E. Rose (NAU), 25 October 1982.

1984.
Surrveyed and area extended by A. Gregory (NAU) and C. Barringer.
Hollow way with rectangular enclosures off, suggested as medieval or post medieval farmstead. Also possible ridge and furrow.
See (S1)
E. Rose (NAU), 19 December 1984.

Scheduled 1986.
Not including extensions to east and southwest of central field.
Information from (S2).
E. Rose (NAU) 12 February 1986.

Area of site doubled in size from 1992 aerial photography. The apparent ridge and furrow previously mentioned can now be seen to cover all of the field to the west as well as the scheduled area. But is it the result of steam ploughing? It has no S bends. To west of hall an earthwork enclosure now visible.
E. Rose (NLA), 5 October 1992.

February 1996. Earthwork Survey.
Survey at 1:1000. Some doubt indicated on earlier interpretations.
See report (S3) for plan and further details. This site was included in (S4) and the survey is also noted in (S5).
B. Cushion (NLA) February 1996. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 12 March 2015.
