Summary
A Cold War Orlit post structure and an underground chamber exist here. They were constructed in 1960 and served as a Royal Observer Corps post until 1968. Both are located on the eastern edge of New Buckenham Common and are in ruins. There are plans (2013) to restore and provide interpretation.

Location
Full description
1976, 1982 and 2000. On the common just west of eastern hedge (NHER 9219) and north of B1113.
Concrete structure in form of two unroofed rooms supported on concrete posts and approached by iron steps.
Observer post constructed in 1960, closed 1968. Ruinous. Its underground chamber is on the other side of the hedge.
Interior is now flooded but two beds can be seen floating inside.

Work to conserve the remains of the tower and to repaint it are planned by the end of the year.
