Summary

A post medieval drainage mill is shown on Faden's map of 1797. It was rebuilt in the 19th century with a brick tower. The frame of the cap remains and internal equipment. The fanstage has spur gear winding which is rare on drainage mills.

Full description

Stones Mill. Drainage wind mill.
Shown by Faden (S1). Later rebuilt; brick tower, frame of cap remains, cast iron windshaft, brake wheel, cast iron scoop wheel. Rods of Cubitt's sails lie on ground. No vertical shaft remaining.

Mid 19th century.
Cap frame with sheers, sheer overlays, headstock, weatherbeam, remains of tail beam; truck wheels, centering wheels, curb, track and racks. Remains of fanstage with spur gear winding (rare on wind pumps).
