Full description
April 2011. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two dispersed accommodation site probably related to Hethel airfield (NHER 9522), partly situated within Ketteringham park (NHER 44333) is visible on aerial photographs to the north and south of Church Road, Ketteringham.
The site is centred on TG 1619 0270, and consists of several areas of Nissen huts within trees, as well as a larger building (possible command centre accommodation?) centred on TG 1586 0253, and further nissen huts centred on TG 1604 0239 as well as a small shelter with blast wall at TG 1619 0253.
The structures are visible on aerial photographs from 1944 to 1947 (S1-S5), and just footings remain by 1955 (S6), with no trace of the buildings remaining by 1956 (S7). However, the structures are not visible on aerial photographs from 1942 (S8), suggesting that this site was in use later than Hethel airfield.
