Summary
The site of a possible ring ditch, which if genuine is likely to mark the site of a Bronze Age round barrow, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. The cropmark is not entirely convincing as an archaeological feature, but it lies within an area known to have been used for prehistoric ceremonial and funerary activity, and in particular it lies within the area of a Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 53403).

Full description
February 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The site of a possible ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TG 2407 0556. The site lies within an area of known prehistoric funerary activity, and if genuine forms part of a larger Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 53403). The cropmark, however, is not entirely convincing as an archaeological feature, although on the 1992 Ordnance Survey aerial photographs on which it is clearest (S4) it is relatively believable. The site is surrounded and crossed by numerous linear features; these form part of a large group of ditched boundaries (NHER 52489) which appear to represent several phases of field systems and trackways, most or all of which are likely to post-date the postulated barrow site.
The ring ditch is incomplete but appears to be roughly circular in plan, and measures approximately 18.5m in diameter.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 15 February 2010.
