Full description

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The remains of a possible World War Two gun emplacement or spigot mortar emplacement are visible on aerial photographs next to the channel at White Bridges, Stiffkey (S1). The site consists of a possible circular structure, centred on TF 9888 4366 and measuring 4.5m in diameter. This is surrounded by a circular depression, 9m across, and has a linear ditch projecting to the north from TF 9888 4367 to TF 9888 4367. This site cannot be seen clearly on any of the available photographs, but it is possible that it is the remains of a gun or spigot mortar emplacement.
S. Massey (NMP), 4 March 2003.
