Summary

An evaluation in 2005 revealed the footings for the 14th century cloister wall and buttresses. In addition, earlier activity was indicated by a Late Saxon pit. The results of a watching brief in 2006 are awaited.

Full description

July 2005. Trial Trenching.
Eight trenches excavated in the cloister garth prior to installation of new drainage system. Contexts 1-69.
Excavations revealed the footings for the 14th century cloister wall and buttresses. Earlier activity on the site was also indicated by the presence of a Late Saxon pit.
