Full description

Croft Yard. Site of maltings marked on (S1).

1983. Site seen after demolition.
Contractors excavations had revealed a domed brick structure resembling a capped well, but with soot inside. Bricks were thought to be 18th century. It pre-dated the maltings (at least in their final form) as it had been buried beneath a York stone floor.
Houses now built over site.
(Formerly included in report for NHER 18633).
E. Rose (NLA) 1 March 2005.
