Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 2004 and 2012 recovered a number of Mesolithic/Early Neolithic, Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age and late prehistoric worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a gold Iron Age coin and a medieval buckle.

Full description

September-November 2003. Fieldwalking and metal-detecting.
3 Later Prehistoric flint scrapers, 1 multi-platform pebble core, 1 borer, 6 retouched/utilised/edge damaged flakes and 17 unmodified flakes.
1 Mesolithic/Early Neolithic notched flint blade fragment
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age small flint side scraper and 3 'thumbnail' scrapers
2 Iron Age pottery sherds (flint-tempered).
26 Roman pottery sherds (greyware).
1 ?Roman pottery sherd (pinkish, oxidised).
1 medieval pottery sherd (unglazed).
10 post-medieval coins.
10 late post-medieval/modern pottery sherds, 1 copper alloy pipe tapper, 1 copper alloy weight, 2 lead ?pistol balls, 2 clay tobacco pipe stems and 4 glass fragments.
