Summary

Metal detecting in 2003 recovered a Roman copper alloy hinged Dolphin brooch dating to the early 1st century. In the winter of 2003 to 2004 a thin prehistoric flint flake was also discovered from this area.

Full description

September/October 2003. Metal detecting.
Roman copper alloy hinged Dolphin brooch, reel between two ribs at end of tubular wings containing iron pin bar, pin missing, bow flanked by curving arched 'shoulders', recent break across leg (two joining pieces), catch-plate broken, 35 x 42mm. 1st century, before AD 60/65.

Thin tertiary side struck flake, broken at proximal end, in pale grey flint, unmodified.
