Summary
An archaeological evaluation in 2004 revealed a shallow pit containing 11th to 14th century pottery and mammal bone. This is likely to be a medieval rubbish pit. The absence of any burial or other feature of Anglo-Saxon date provides excellent negative evidence that the nearby Early Saxon cemetery (NHER 1125) did not extend north into this area.

Evaluation of proposed development site. Contexts 1-18 used.
Shallow medieval pit containing seven medieval pottery sherds of the same fabric.
The absence of any burials or other features of Anglo-Saxon date provides excellent negative evidence that the nearby Early Saxon cemetery (NHER 1125) did not extend north into this area.
