Full description
January 2001. NMP.
A number of bomb craters are visible around TF 7545 - TF 7645, including a cluster of 30 or so at TF 758 451, on 1945 Aps (S1). They vary in size, with the largest about 7-8m in diameter. These craters were presumably the result of returning bombers dumping their excess bombs into the sea. These craters are further evidence of the WWII activity in this area.

April 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The group of features at TF 7581 4517 look too close set and regular to be bomb craters. Returning RAF/USAAF bombers would dump their unused bombs on the opposite side of or in the English Channel or North Sea, not on their own coastal defences. Could be the result of overshoots from the tank range (NHER 26780) or stray German bombs. Could be the result of late World War Two practice. The area to the west remained in use as a military range until the 1950’s.
