Summary

Remains of coastal beach scaffolding can be seen on aerial photographs of this area, extending along the coast. The lengths of scaffolding along the beach were a major component of the World War Two coastal defences in this area.

Full description

26 January 2001. NMP.
A section of beach defence scaffolding can be seen running along the Titchwell parish coast for a distance of about 1.5km on 1945 aerial photographs (S1 and S2). It begins in Thornham parish and there is a section, almost 500m long, running to south here, adjoining the west end of the main section. The defence continues into Brancaster parish.
The lengths of scaffolding along the beach were a major component of the World War Two coastal defences in this area.
