Summary

Fieldwalking in 2002 and topsoil stripping in 2003 discovered no archaeological features, although some prehistoric worked and burnt flints were recovered, as well as a small number of medieval and post medieval objects.

Full description

June 2002. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed Park and Ride site. In potatoes. Contexts 1-143 used.
6 ?prehistoric worked flints and 30 burnt flints.
1 ?medieval lead weight.
Medieval and post-medieval brick and tile fragments.
Much post-medieval and modern pottery and many metal objects.

April-May 2003. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping for new Park and Ride site. From context 150.
No archaeological features were observed, although several post-medieval pottery sherds and post-medieval to modern metal objects were found.
