Summary

Metal-detecting between 2000 and 2006 and subsequently in 2012 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and tokens and a diverse range of other metal objects. The metal finds include medieval dress accessories, a rotary and casket key, a brooch, lead spindle whorl and part of a seal matrix depicting a hare; a medieval/post-medieval vessel fragment and lead mount and post-medieval dress accessories, book clasps and a furniture escutcheon plate.

Full description

Before 10 August 2000. Metal detecting. (E1788).
Medieval fragment, about half, of an Ae pointed seal matrix, flat rib ending in pierced lug on reverse, approximately 36x20mm. A running hare (front part of). +S':EGI.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. …RICI]] The two vertical strokes at the end of the inscription are very lightly incised and probably space filler rather than letters. (Seal of Giles…). CAST.
