Summary
Archaeological observations were carried out here as part of the process to re-erect a memorial horse trough. Various medieval deposits such as tiles and bricks were recovered from the castle mound and evidence for landscaping and management of the mound during the 1920s was also recorded.

6 July 2000. Watching Brief.
Undertaken during excavation of trench to allow re-erection of memorial horse trough.
Medieval mound deposits and 1920s landscaping activities were recorded.
