Full description

Moat northwest of Bale Hall.
Shown by Ordnance Survey as L shaped, as it also appears on (S1).

13 November 1979. Visited by E. Rose (NAU).
Close inspection not possible owing to absence of owner.
The north and east sides remain as on map but a new extention has apparently made it T shaped, and the surrounding area is landscaped.
E. Rose (NAU)

(S2) show that in fact it is still L shaped, though corner has been dug out.
But [1] reports a local story that it used to be T shaped, though shown as L shaped on (S3).
E. Rose (NAU) 5 August 1985.

Survey and notes by B. Dollin in (S4).
Copy of survey in file.
E. Rose (NAU) 10 November 1986.

Moat remains L shaped, waterfilled as part of landscape garden.
H. Paterson (A&E), 10 March 2004.
