Record Details

NHER Number:3195
Type of record:Monument
Name:Site of medieval manorial moat

Summary

The earthworks of a medieval moated site are visible on aerial photographs and on the ground. The moat is linked to two medieval fishponds, and an associated outer enclosure. Other earthworks on the site are probably drainage ditches. The moat is probably manorial and may be a predecessor of the nearby Hall.

Probably a moat, square of fairly deep ditches, the southern side being the river, but the number of drainage ditches around introduce some doubt.
