Summary

Metal-detecting between 1996 and 2016 recovered Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and Bronze Age, Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age socketed axehead; a Roman brooch; a Late Saxon strap distributor and knife terminal; medieval buckles, a strap-end, pendant hangar, horse harness pendant, mortar rim and suspension ring; a medieval/post-medieval weight and copper alloy ring and post-medieval buckles.

Full description

January 1996. Metal-detecting. Area (restricted) of field.
Very solid early medieval buckle plate with two integral loops for missing frame. Transverse ?rocker-arm ornament near loops. Holes at each corner (one with iron rivet), those in outer corner passing through trefoils formed by circular cut-outs to either side. Very worn.
Trapezoidal medieval buckle frame with small boss at each corner.
