Record Details

NHER Number:3172
Type of record:Building
Name:All Saints' church, Thornage

Summary

The Domesday Book of 1086 mentions the existence of a church in this parish, and with the presence of possible Saxon long-and-short work in the northwest corner, All Saints' may have begun life as a Late Saxon building. Today three Norman windows are visible in the nave and chancel, although the chancel dates largely to the 14th century, and the building was heavily restored in 1898.
