Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting at this location from 1993-99 retrieved a selection of finds dating to the Saxon and medieval periods. The most important finds were a medieval circular belt mount and cruciform brooch as well as a Saxon hooked tag, a coin and a sherd of Ipswich Ware.

Full description

1993. Fieldwalking find.
Unglazed medieval rod jug handle.

1994. Metal detector find.
Late Saxon hooked tag with dot-in-circle and two holes. Hook broken.
Polaroid taken by NCM.

1996. Metal detector find.
Medieval circular belt mount. Two attachment holes (once three). Two concentric rings of repousse dots on either side of ring of punched dots. Very roughly like dress accessory no.929.

1997. Metal detector finds.

11th century cruciform brooch with short flowing arms and centre boss. One arm missing. Pin seat at rear.
