21 June 1978. Visit. Stone Road.
Straight road, continued to Mattishall village on (S1).
Does this and the name indicate a Roman date?

No evidence of Roman date. Where vanished course leaves present straight road there is no trace in the crop, and at its southern end the course has been built over.

Comes to no further conclusions about the road.
Shows that line of an early road across Badley Moor at Mattishall could be examined prior to development and its suggested Roman origins tested. Present evidence is circumstantial and not conclusive about these possible Roman origins.
