Summary

Metal detecting here in 1994 recovered a Bronze Age awl and a medieval strap end fragment decorated with moulded acorns and engraved lines. A third object made from cast bronze was found but could not be dated or identified.

Full description

January/February 1994.
Bronze Age awl. Drawn, (S1).
Medieval strap end fragment, front plate with two cut-away arched openings with trefoil 'head' to the arches and an acorn on a stem in each arch. Engraved lines form border. 6 rivets. Repair strip on reverse.
Cast bronze object with ribbed, cordoned and 'pie crust' decoration. Part of one edge is unbroken. Reverse is rough and pitted, except along unbroken edge, ?date, (S2).
