Summary

Fieldwalking in this area during 1993, in advance of the development of a golf course, recovered a wide range of artefacts. Finds of note included prehistoric worked and burnt flints, post medieval glass and tobacco pipes and sherds of Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery.

Full description

March 1992. Metal-detecting.
Mintlyn Farm Field Survey (Lucerne/Area D):
Four hours in total spent examining area of 'set-aside' at western end of field. Small number of objects found (all previously recorded under NHER 28924):
1 undatable lead objects, including 1 disc and 1 sheet fragment.
1 undatable unidentified copper alloy object.

Mintlyn Farm Field Survey (Lucerne):
NAU fieldwalking in advance of proposed golf course. Large proportion of field walked in 25m grid squares at 4 to 5m intervals.
Iron slag.
Flints and pot boilers.
Medieval bronze buckle, undated bronze ferrule.
Roman, Late Saxon, medieval, post medieval sherds.
Medieval tiles and brick.
Post medieval sherds and finds.
