Summary

Metal detecting at this location during the period 1991-94 recovered a range of metal objects and coins. Finds of note included a Bronze Age sword haft/blade, a Late Saxon finger ring with tapering terminals, part of a Saxon cruciform brooch and a medieval buckle plate with serrated edges and punched dot decoration.

Full description

1991. Metal detector finds
Base of bow and top of foot with part of a 'lappet' see for comparison Group IV cruciform brooch AD 550-600.
Late Saxon possible tendrils from Ringerike style finial, decorated on both faces.
Medieval folded bronze plate with contour line border, single rivet in centre.
Medieval buckle plate, five rivets, 'serrated' edges and punched dots over surface in three lengthwise rows.
Polaroids of all these taken by NCM.
Post medieval bronze harness stud.
