Summary

Metal detecting here during the period 1990-2003 recovered various metal objects and coins. Finds included part of a medieval crucifix, a medieval buckle/belt slide in the form of a bird, three post medieval hooked tags and a penny of Edward I.

Full description

1990. Found with metal detector.
Medieval 15th century bronze purse bar fragment with shield-shaped central boss inscribed with interlocking V's on one side and S on other. One face of bar inscribed AVE MARIA and other TECVM. 13th century 'half-round' figure of crucified Christ; head, one arm and legs missing and once enamelled? Compare Limoges. Found at [1]. Photographed.
Medieval harness pendant 'sexfoil' with central hole for decorative boss. Suspension loop, traces of gilding.
Medieval square buckle and sheet plate with stamped border, one rivet hole.
15th century French jetton.

September 1992. East end of site.
13th century bronze buckle frame, moulded decoration on each side of pin rest, possibly in the form of two confronted stylised animal heads.
Medieval bronze D-shaped buckle frame and sheet plate with two rivets (one missing)
14th century bronze strap-end buckle with integral plate, trefoil pierced terminal and engraved transverse lines on plate; rivet hole at buckle end of plate and hole through which pin is looped. Traces of gilding.
Two Late medieval conical thimbles, bronze. Identified by S. Margeson (NCM).
