Summary

Metal detecting in 1985 or 1986 recovered a 9th century silver strap end with an animal head terminal in the Trewhiddle style. The terminal has ribbed edges and a central field decorated with symmetrical foliage springing from a central stem inlaid with niello. There are punched dots around the edges of the leaf motifs, and two silver rivets.

Full description

1985 or 1986. Found with metal detector.
9th century silver strap end with animal head terminal, ribbed edges and central field decorated with symmetrical foliage springing from central stem inlaid with niello. Punched dots around edges of leaf motifs. Two silver rivets, Trewhiddle style.
