Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking here between 1987 and 2018 recovered prehistoric worked flint including ?Palaeolithic flint flakes; Neolithic flint flakes, blades, scrapers and a hammerstone; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery; medieval/post-medieval jettons, post-medieval tokens; an undatable whetstone and Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age brooch; an Iron Age or Saxon penannular brooch; a Roman headstud brooch; medieval buckles, a coin weight, harness pendant, and a copper alloy vessel rim fragment, a medieval/post-medieval purse bar fragment and thimble; and a post-medieval button, foliate from a sword belt hanger, dress hook, lead cloth seal, dome-headed stud and several crotal bells.

Full description

Unknown date. Fieldwalking and metal-detecting?
Neolithic scrapers, flakes, retouched flakes, a blade, hammerstone and possible arrowhead or broken knife.
One medieval coin, pottery sherds, a coin weight, buckles and a copper alloy vessel rim fragment.
One post-medieval jetton, a button, lead cloth seal, dome-headed stud and several crotal bells.

Penannular brooch, Fowler Type C. Apparently made from hollow rolled sheet. Pin broadens to wide strip where it forms loop. Pair of incised transverse lines next to loop. Weight 7.90g.
