Name:Undated iron slag, Neolithic flints, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds

Summary

During 1987 and 1988 sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery, pieces of iron slag and prehistoric flint implements were recovered from this location. A subsequent fieldwalking survey undertaken in 1999 recovered a range of additional material including a significant number of potentially prehistoric 'pot boilers', a number of prehistoric work flints, a single Middle Saxon pottery sherd and medieval pottery sherds.

Full description

1987.
Medieval sherds including greenglazed Grimston.
Post medieval Westerwald stoneware.
Iron slag.

1988.
Flint hammerstone, three flint flakes and one perhaps the result of natural crushing, post medieval stoneware including
Westerwald.

1998. Fieldwalking Survey.
This survey recoved two Early Bronze Age scrapers and a small number of flakes, plus significant quantity of potboilers, and one piece of Middle Saxon Ipswich Ware and assorted sherds of medieval pottery.
