Summary

Fenland fieldwalking in December 1986 recovered a number of prehistoric flints and pot boilers. In addition to these a Bronze Age flint scraper was found.

Full description

18 December 1986. Fenland fieldwalking weathered ploughsoil.

Context 1: general scatter odd flints. Reference NWD AG on (S1).
Includes Bronze Age Scraper - F. Healy (NAU).

Context 2: at 7079 9701 concentration pot boilers sparse, and couple of flints, on ridge of gravelly loam, 17m (northwest-southeast) x 14m (northeast-southwest) at 1.2m OD. Reference NWD 10 on (S1).

Context 3: at 7078 9695 concentration sparse pot boilers on ridge of gravelly loam, 11m diameter at 1.4m OD. Reference NWD 11 on (S1).

Context 4: at 7077 9678 concentration pot boilers moderate to abundant many derived from rounded pebbles. On ridge of gravelly loam. One large chunk of bone but not taken. Area 23m (northwest-southeast) x 21m (northeast-southwest), 0.6-0.2m OD. Reference NWD 12 on (S1).

Context 5: at 7072 9681 concentration pot boilers, sparse, ridge of gravelly loam. Area 21m (northwest-southeast) x 12m (northeast-southwest) at 1.8m OD. Reference NWD 13 on (S1).
