A map dating to before 1974 shows cropmarks on this site. These may be old ditches radiating from the present ditch. Fenland Survey fieldwalking in 1986 recovered some Roman and medieval pottery pieces and an unworked flint.

Pre 1974. Cropmark indicated on (S1). Possibly old ditches - radiating from present ditch (context 2) centred on grid reference 642 145.
23 October 1986. Fenland fieldwalking extended area of site, including corner of field in West Winch parish on well weathered soil and young cereal.
Odd medieval sherds and one possible worked flint. Two sherds reidentified as possible Roman. RCN AA (S2).
