Name:Site of Middle Saxon settlement and multi-period finds

Summary

This is the site of a small Middle Saxon settlement, and a scatter of Middle Saxon pottery has been recovered from the site. Prehistoric flints, fragments of medieval and post medieval pottery, post medieval floor tiles and post medieval clay pipes have also been found during fieldwalking.

Full description

Winter 1984 to 1985. Hales site 154. Fieldwalking light sandy boulder clay, winter cereal very low, good conditions.
4 worked flints.
2 bases and 2 sherds pimply Ipswich.
1 sherd sandy Ipswich.
3 medieval unglazed, 1 glazed.
10 post medieval sherds. 1 post medieval floor tile, 1 clay pipe.
