Summary
In 1985 an incomplete Roman coarseware pot containing a cremation dating to the late 2nd or early 3rd century was recovered on this site. Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a small number of medieval pottery sherds and occasional Roman pottery sherds.

Full description
February - March 1985. Found by mechanical digger in Poaks Field at around 2 ft 6 inches (0.76m) depth.
Context 2: at grid reference above. Incomplete (even before shattered by digger) coarseware pot containing cremation (report by J. McKinley in File). Pot very hard coarse white fabric. Late 2nd early 3rd century AD Nene Valley greyware.

26 March 1986. Over all remainder of field; fieldwalking well weathered soil under cabbages.
Odd medieval sherds with perhaps the odd Roman thrown in. WPA BW (S1).
