Fieldwalking here in 1984 recovered sherds of Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery. Finds included a piece of Roman samian Ware and parts of two post medieval beer jars.

Full description

21 October 1984. North and northeast sides of Wacton Common. Fieldwalking by Wacton Project, quickly and 'thinly'.
Four Roman sherds of sandy grey and orange wares.
One post medieval sherd, 17th-18th century brown glazed.
Two stone beer jar base sherds embossed BLAC or BOT.
Many field drain fragments of various dates (common not enclosed until 1940).
Identified by A. Gregory (NAU).
