Gun position or defensive building, World War Two.
Massive concrete gunport alone visible above water level in RSPB lagoon.

Assessment of land at RSPB Titchwell.
A map of 1943, annotated to show World War Two debris, records this structure as a "pillbox in earth and grass-covered mound". It is shown at the western end of an "earth and grass-covered causeway", the eastern end of which was near the remains of two armoured fighting vehicles (NHER 43974).
This pillbox was observed during the walkover survey (Site 4). Concrete blocks/foundations were also observed under the path to the west (Site 5).
