Name:Cropmarks of possible Bronze Age ring ditches and barrow

Summary

Aerial photography in 1977 recorded cropmarks identified as two ring ditches and a possible circular barrow. The nature of these features may suggest they are of Bronze Age date. Additionally, a number of surface finds have been retrieved from the site of these cropmarks including multi period pottery sherds and Neolithic flint pieces.

2 August 1977. NAU aerial photography.
Cropmarks.
Two ring ditches.
Also possible barrow showing as circle rather than ring ditch.

March 1984. Surface finds on site of cropmark.
Bodysherd of prehistoric flint gritted ware.
Two sherds, probably medieval unglazed.
Identified by A. Rogerson (NAU) 1984.

June 1989. Found between the two ring ditches.
Roughout for Neolithic laurel leaf point.
Identified by J. Wymer (NAU).

1990. Found in this field.
Two flint scrapers.
One core, several flint flakes (some with retouch).
Late Saxon Thetford-type ware.
Medieval sherds including Late medieval transitional.
Post medieval stoneware sherds and Lead Glazed Earthenware.
