Summary

This impressive complex includes a very large barn of red brick divided in two by an original wall. The roofs have struts from the base of king posts, and there are some reused 17th century S-braces. The barn dates to around 1800, with extensions of 1860-1870. It is possible that horse power was used here.

Full description

Impressive complex. Very large, of red brick, divided into two by a wall apparently original. Roof of two orders of tie beams, and some smaller beams appear reused. Cart doors on south blocked owing to a range of four gabled wings with large arched openings, also in red brick. Roofs have struts from base of king posts. Also some 17th century S-braces reused in odd positions.
One has been removed to the cottage (site NHER 17662).
Date of barn around 1800, extensions around 1860-70.
