This is far too massive for just a footpath, and was obviously once a road of some importance.

The soilmarks of a possible road to the north of Bracon Ash are clearly visible on aerial photographs (S1). The road can be seen as a bank feature, measuring up to approximately 9m in width, between TG 1804 0013 and TM 1822 9998.
