Name:Post medieval cowbell and pottery sherds

Summary

In 1979 a bronze post medieval cowbell was found on the ground surface here. Subsequent fieldwalking in 1980 recovered a quantity of medieval and post medieval pottery sherds, including pieces of medieval Grimston Ware and post medieval glazed red earthenware.

Bronze cowbell? (similar to but larger than sheep bells).
Identified by W. Milligan (NCM) 20 October 1980.

Around 1980. Scatter over whole field. Context 1. Site 'WH/S Hill Fm S OS 133-138-141.
Forty-three medieval unglazed.
Two glazed Grimston, one medieval glazed.
Three late medieval/transitional.
One post medieval green glazed similar to late Grimston.
Seven glazed red earthenware.
Five post medieval black glazed.
