Record Details

NHER Number:16338
Type of record:Monument
Name:Possible site of medieval/post medieval mill

Summary

An earthen mound is recorded here on the Ordnance Survey. The area is known as Mill Lane but no windmill is recorded on 18th and 19th century maps of this location. A local informant suggested a drainage mill may have existed here in the past, but this is a little unlikely before 1797, and could have had no connection with the mound. The mound was still visible when the site was visited in 1996.
