Full description

Site of Bone Mill.
(S1) mentions a bone mill established here during the Napoleonic Wars, which survived until washed away in 1915.
Exact site provided by grandfather of S. Ashley (NAU), who says he used to live in the adjoining house.
But it is strange that the 1836 1in Ordnance Survey does not mark it.
E. Rose (NAU) 12 May 1980.

Informant is correct - see 1883 6in Ordnance Survey.

One wonders whether (S1) is equally so; perhaps the mill was not established until after 1836.
It was a windmill.
