Name:Site of post medieval windmill

Summary

According to Faden's map of 1797 two windmills stood at this location. Further research shows that only one mill existed here (See NHER 18026 for the other) and that it was a post mill that was last used in 1922. The roundhouse of the mill remained on site as a residential property until its demolition in 1971.

Full description

Site of two windmills.
Marked on Faden's map 1797. See (S1).
E. Rose (NAU) 19 December 1979.

Road across site on 6in Ordnance Survey not on Faden.
Grid reference corrected by informant who says there was only one mill here, the other is site NHER 18026 wrongly placed by Faden.
This mill here was a post mill last used in 1922.
Roundhouse remained as house until demolished 1971.
