Summary

In 1979 a number of features were noted in this area of the route of the Swaffham bypass road. These were thought to be pits and/or ditches, and contained 1st to 4th century Roman pottery sherds and coins. An Early Saxon wristclasp was also recovered.

Full description

October 1979. South of Little Friars Thornes. On Swaffham Bypass line.
Dark features containing 1st-4th century Roman pottery and coins. Also Early Saxon wristclasp.
Discovered by A. Rogerson (NAU), and C. Morris.
Partial excavation by A. Gregory (NAU).
