Summary

Between 1970 and 1984 several hundred worked flints were recovered at this location. These included a probable Mesolithic axehead roughout, Mesolithic blades and many flakes that were identified as Neolithic "flint mine type" debitage.

Around 1970. Stray Find.
Various finds marked as 'Trowse-Whitlingham' - type suggests this site and not finder's other Whitlingham site (NHER 15462):
19 Mesolithic flint blades, some very elegant.
40 Mesolithic/Neolithic flint flakes.
4 rolled flakes - probably natural.

1977-1978. Stray Find.
Found on surface in woods, but perhaps dug out:
Several hundred flint flakes with heavy chalk patina; identified by M. Pitts (London Institute of Archaeology) as "primary flint-working debris of flint mine type".
