Full description

Three small circular cropmarks and soilmarks together.
Possibly a searchlight station.

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a searchlight battery are visible on NLA oblique aerial photographs (S1-S2). The site is centred on TF 9618 4166. The site is not visible on any of the available wartime aerial photography and therefore may have been dismantled quite early in the war or perhaps represented a temporary site. The site consists of three circular cropmarks linked by pathways. The largest, probably for the predictor is 7m in diameter. The southern two circles, for the searchlights are both 5m across. The east of these, centred on TF 9619 4166, is a rectangular enclosure, measuring 8.5m by 5m. This is linked by a path to the eastern searchlight. It is possible that this represents the location of a military structure, possibly used for equipment storage or shelter.
S. Massey (NMP), 9 October 2002.
